Junior Ensemble
DYDC's new Dance Foundation Programme launching 31st August 2024 12-3pm at Dance House, Foley Street, Dublin 1, is suitable for young dancers aged 10-15yrs interested in developing their technical ability in ballet and contemporary dance who have some experience in different dance styles: ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop/urban, lyrical, etc.

Each Saturday members will take part in a ballet class followed by a contemporary dance class. In the second term, the teacher will devise a short dance piece that will be presented in front of an audience, representing the Junior Ensemble at DYDC's Spring Gala.

Progression from the programme to the Transition Ensemble will be dependant on age (must be in secondary school) and personal development.

Transition Ensemble
The Transition Ensemble is formed by young dancers between the ages of 12 and 18. To apply you must be in secondary school.
​
Transition members are selected via audition and in some special cases by invitation.
​
We expect from applicants a natural ability for movement, ideally some experience in contemporary dance, ballet or urban styles.
Transition DYDC meets every Saturday 12 - 5pm in Dance House, Foley Street, Dublin 1.
​
Each Saturday consists of ballet and contemporary classes followed by a rehearsal for the creation of original dance pieces to be performed throughout the year at different events and festivals.
​
Transition members that develop and progress significantly will be encouraged to audition for the Senior Ensemble when they have developed their technical ability, maturity & commitment and understanding of additional contemporary dance elements such as partnering, improvisation & performance skills.

Senior Ensemble
The Senior Ensemble is formed by dancers between the ages of 16 - 25, dancers are selected via audition and invitation based on their ability, maturity and commitment.
​
The Senior Ensemble provides a platform for dancers that are considering a professional dance career, offering training at a pre-professional level, guidance, mentoring and links within the dance industry.
​
Senior DYDC also offers a platform for creativity and challenge to those dancers that simply love dancing and performing but might not choose to follow a professional path.
​
Senior DYDC meets every Sunday 11am – 3.30/4pm in Dance Theatre of Ireland's centre for Dance, Bloomfield Shopping Centre, Dún Laoghaire.
Each Sunday consists of technical contemporary dance class followed by a rehearsal for the creation of original dance pieces to be performed throughout the year at different events and festivals. Senior members are given the opportunity to create their own work alongside guidance and mentorship from DYDC Alumni who are professional dance artists. These works will be performed as part of the Spring Gala at a national theatre.

Senior DYDC often participates in projects with professional national and international choreographers and collaborations with other youth dance companies.
