DYDC Ensembles
Junior & Transition Ensembles
DYDC’s Junior (Foundation Programme) & Transition Ensembles will meet every Saturday in Dance House, Foley Street, Dublin 1. DYDC will be introducing a new class structure which will focus on our main style of contemporary dance on a weekly basis but will also include dance modules (will vary from 4-7 weeks) in various dance styles such as Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop/Fusion and others.

The Transition Ensemble’s weekly session will run from 10am – 3pm which will consist of technical dance classes eg. Ballet & Contemporary Dance, followed by rehearsal and creation of original dance work to be performed at events and festivals throughout the year.

The Foundation Programme allows the Junior Ensemble members to take technical classes alongside their piers in the Transition Ensemble from 10am-1.10pm.

During the February midterm, Junior members will take part in an intensive few days of dance in Dance House, creating a performance piece for the DYDC Annual Gala at the end of March. They will also have extra rehearsal time until 3pm for 4 Saturdays in the run up to the Gala.

Senior Ensemble
The Senior Ensemble provides a platform for dancers that are considering a professional dance career, offering training at a pre-professional level, guidance, mentoring and links within the dance industry.
Senior DYDC also offers a platform for creativity and challenge to those dancers that simply love dancing and performing but might not choose to follow a professional path.

DYDC will meet every Saturday 11.30am-4.30pm in Liffey Trust Studios, Upper Sheriff Street, Dublin 1. Each Saturday will consist of technical contemporary dance class followed by a rehearsal for the creation of original dance work.
UK Choreographer Jack Philp will teach and choreograph the senior ensemble from September 2025 to March 2026. Jack is interested in work that is physically dynamic, collaborative and that speaks of the world today.

Senior members are given the opportunity to create their own work alongside guidance and mentorship from DYDC Alumni who are professional dance artists. These pieces along with the work created with Jack, will premiere at the DYDC Annual Gala end of March 2026.

In the final term (April-June) the structure will change to allow for 2 weekly masterclasses/workshops focussing on different dance styles with high calibre professional dance artists.

Senior DYDC often participates in projects with professional national and international choreographers and collaborations with other youth dance companies.
